Is the implant screw really super big?
Sometimes patients who are researching dental implants ask me, "Is the implant screw really that big?" Or they simply don't like the idea of putting a "screw" into their jawbone.
The dental implants we use are actually very small and are measured in millimeters. They're carefully selected to fit the space where your missing tooth was, making the procedure much simpler than many people expect.
Is a dental implant procedure very big and scary?
Another common misconception is that getting a dental implant is a major, scary procedure. That's really not the case. You're completely numb and kept as comfortable as possible throughout the procedure.

Some patients worry that they won't be able to keep their mouth open during a dental procedure, especially if treatment takes a little longer. I completely understand.
At Bailey Dental Group, we use a variety of bite blocks and suction devices that allow you to comfortably rest your jaw during treatment, so you don't have to worry about holding your mouth open the entire time.
Is dental treatment going to be painful?

We make sure you're thoroughly numb before we begin, and we continuously check in with you throughout your procedure to make sure you're comfortable every step of the way.
What if I don't have any concerns or don't feel anything wrong?
Sometimes patients come in for a new patient appointment and tell me everything feels great and they don't have any concerns. While that's always wonderful to hear, some dental problems can develop without causing any noticeable symptoms.
During your comprehensive dental exam, we'll collect important information by taking dental X-rays, digital scans, and carefully examining your teeth and gums. This allows us to identify problems that may not be causing discomfort yet.
